Is Woocommerce paid? Everything you need to know!
We won’t keep you in suspense, because the answer to this question is very simple – WooCommerce is NOT paid! This is a question that almost everyone asks – no wonder, because the vast majority of such solutions charge either a commission or a subscription fee (simply a subscription). In the case of WooCommerce, there is no such place 🙂
Basic version of WooCommerce – no fees
WooCommerce is a completely free open source plugin that can be installed on a WordPress website. This means that you do not pay for using the basic version or for its license. This is an attractive solution for those who want to launch an online store without incurring subscription costs or transaction commissions.
WooCommerce and other platforms
Unlike many platforms, WooCommerce does not charge a sales commission or fixed subscription fees. This is a big advantage compared to solutions such as Shopify, which often charge monthly fees, as well as sales commissions. Thanks to this, WooCommerce will be especially good for companies that want to have full control over their operating costs, and at the same time want to save money 😉
WooCommerce and additional costs
Although the basic version of WooCommerce is free, there are some costs that may arise as you develop your store, mainly related to personalization and additional features:
- Hosting and domain – WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so you will need to purchase hosting and a domain for your website. Hosting costs around PLN 30-50 per month, and a domain usually costs PLN 50-100 per year, depending on the provider.
- Themes and store design – The platform offers a wide selection of free themes, but if you want to stand out with a professional or custom look, you can opt for paid themes, the prices of which start at around PLN 200.
- Paid extensions and plugins – There are many free plugins available in WooCommerce, but more advanced features, such as integration with various payment systems or marketing automation extensions, may require a fee. Plugin prices depend on the feature and provider, and some of the more advanced ones can cost from several dozen to several hundred zlotys. We get around this issue by coding our own plugins individually tailored to the client’s needs. This option is definitely better, because we can personalize such a plugin to the maximum.
- Optional integration costs – WooCommerce offers many possibilities for expanding the store, such as integration with CRM, warehouse systems, or accounting. In most cases, their implementation may involve additional fees, especially if they are paid solutions.
Who is WooCommerce suitable for?
The basic version of WooCommerce allows you to create a store with minimal upfront costs. It is an ideal solution for companies that need flexibility and the ability to customize it to their own needs, without subscription costs and commission fees. Costs may appear when developing the store, especially in the case of personalization or advanced functions.
